Anticoagulation Clinic
Some conditions, such as Atrial Fibrillation, Heart Valve Disease and leg thrombosis (DVT) require a patient to take the blood thinning drug Warfarin.
Whilst this represents a major commitment in time on behalf of the patient, it does significantly reduce the risk of blood clot formation when these conditions are suffered.
Regular blood checks are needed to make sure that the balance of Warfarin dosage is kept steady. If you are taking Warfarin then you will be asked to attend one of our anticoagulation clinics which are operated at the Humberstone Medical Centre by a LAMS nurse once a week on a Tuesday morning.
