Originally from Rochdale, Dr Salkin graduated from The University of Manchester Medical School and trained in General Practice in South Wales before joining Humberstone Medical Centre as a Partner in 1991.
Dr Salkin has also worked as a Hospital Practitioner in Cardiology at Glenfield General Hospital from 2002 till 2009 and led Heart Failure services in the city of Leicester between 2003 and 2007.
As a qualified Trainer of General Practitioners with the East Midlands Medical Workforce Deanery, Dr Salkin is Educational Supervisor for the practice’s registrar doctors and an appraiser for local GPs in the city of Leicester. He carries out Occupational Health consultancy work for local and national businesses, and has been a GP representative on the Professional Executive Committee for Leicester City NHS from 2007 till 2009 , advising on health care policy for the city of Leicester.
